In the quest for authenticity, Rockstar Games revealed that it recruited actual gang members to do voice-overs. Confirmed by game producer Laslow Jones.
During an interview with a Chicago radio station, Laslow Jones said that they actually have a guy who`s responsible of recruiting gang members, as ambient characters in GTA V`s game world need voice-overs.
The game producer stated that a fancy-schooled LA actor trying to deliver that hardened, street attitude, would be absolutely goofy, so they brought these guys in.
Working with guys who actually live the life GTA`s trying to emulate and deliver to the fantasy-driven gamer, probably made the script writers realize they wouldn`t make it as gang members.
During the recording process, Jones said that in certain situations, the hired actors would read the script and be something like: “I wouldn`t ever say this if i was upset” and stuff along those lines.
Rockstar took invaluable insight, transforming irrelevant script-writing into authentic dialogue, full of raw, real emotion, thanks to these guys. This will be great for those seeking full immersion.
The game launches worldwide on September 17 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Now, browsing the news sites, reading about this story and seeing the comment section, i can see some people have averse feelings about it, as, in their opinion outlaws do not deserve this kind of opportunity.
Let`s never break the vicious circle, as if, you become an outlaw for a hobby, not because you`ve fallen into a trap. Believe it or not some really are underprivileged and their choices are not so varied.
Any thoughts on this?
